When mental health difficulties arise engineers can be vulnerable to errors and a loss in productivity which can have a detrimental effect on safety. Research suggests that many engineers find it difficult to talk to their manager or colleagues about adverse life events and poor mental health. Peer support can provide a means to reach out to someone who understands the stresses of the industry.
